Whether given as a gift to a creative friend, or just an opportunity for you to try something new, this course will give you a hands on chance to gain silversmithing skills in a relaxed, small class environment.....
Enjoy a creative few hours at my home in Lightwood and make your very own spinner/fidget ring! Spinner rings, or fidget rings, are known to help soothe sensory nerves, reducing anxiety and improving focus.
I have taught this class to both complete beginners as well as those with at least one previous experience in silversmithing - Whilst it is recommended that you have tried silversmithing before, you are most welcome to join! I will be on hand to closely guide you and the other participants through each step, ensuring you make your ring yourself. Make a textured ring or a beaded ring or-a twisted wire ring.... And combine to make a spinner ring!
The steps include sizing your finger, measuring the amount of silver needed, filing the metal, shaping the ring, using a blowtorch, adding texture, possibly attaching a pebble jewel, and many other skills. Silver and tool use is included in the price, and your rings will go with you ready to wear at the end of the class!
This workshop lasts around 4 hours in total and is is a very hands-on class. If you normally wear glasses for reading, we recommend you bring these. Please wear old clothes that are not loose and closed-toed shoes. Long hair must also be tied back. I currently have no strict age limit on classes but please email us before booking a space for anyone under the age of 16 just to confirm this with us.
